Location and History
The Brucejack Project (100%) is located approximately six kilometers to the south of Silver Standard’s Snowfield Project (100%) in northern British Columbia. Estimated precious metals resources at December 1, 2009 for Brucejack consist of measured and indicated resources of 4.04 million ounces of gold and 65.4 million ounces of silver and inferred resources of 4.9 million ounces of gold and 71.5 million ounces of silver (see news release dated December 1, 2009.)
The project comprises six modeled deposits including four deposits previously reported in the Sulphurets resource. During the 1980’s and 1990’s, Sulphurets was the subject of over $40 million spent on exploration and development focused on the higher grade underground mining potential of the property. Work included 78,300 meters of surface and underground diamond drilling, 5,275 meters of underground development and completion of a feasibility study of a 350 tonne per day operation. The current resource includes broad halos of disseminated mineralization.
The 2009 Brucejack drill program exceeded expectations in identifying and defining previously unrecognized gold targets, and in intersecting gold mineralization over significant intervals, with several exceeding 500 meters. The program also intersected high-grade gold-silver mineralization over narrow widths. The program included 17,846 meters of diamond drilling in 37 holes, all of which intersected gold-silver mineralization.
Extensive drilling in 2010 is planned to identify additional disseminated and high-grade types of mineralization.
