Saftey Policy

Occupational health and safety is recognized by Silver Standard Resources as among the highest corporate priorities at all stages of our activities. We are committed to the well- being of our employees, contractors and the general public by creating and maintaining a safe working environment.

Our goal is to prevent workplace incidents and injuries, and continually improve our health and safety performance through:

  • compliance with applicable laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which we operate;
  • adherence to generally accepted industry standards;
  • identification, control or elimination of potential risks and providing an environment free of uncontrolled hazards;
  • monitoring and assessing our operations to achieve continual improvements in overall health and safety performance.

In support of our goals we will:

  • implement company-wide health and safety policy standards;
  • identify the significant health and safety hazards and risks associated with our activities;
  • ensure all employees and contractors strive to recognize and minimize the health and safety risks associated with identified hazards;
  • ensure all our employees at all levels have the resources, training and tools required to carry out their health and safety duties and responsibilities;
  • clearly identify accountability for health and safety;
  • ensure employee participation in the development and implementation of health and safety programs;
  • engage in communicating this policy and health and safety programs to employees, contractors and the public.

This policy applies to all operations of Silver Standard Resources Inc. and its subsidiaries. Safe operating practices are a shared responsibility among management, employees, contractors and community visitors. Everyone throughout the company must be committed to the implementation of health and safety practices to ensure their own personal safety and the safety of fellow employees.
